This
is one of the most innovative things I’ve seen in quite a while. MIT is in the process of developing a $100 laptop in an effort to
revolutionize how we educate the world's children. This laptop will include a
color LCD, tablet capabilities, wifi, as well as a hand crank generator for use
as an alternative power supply. MIT plans on hitting the $100 price point by
using a 500MHz processor, 1GB memory, running LINUX, and by using cheaper LCDs.
This truly could be revolutionary.
Just imagine if these machines were distributed by the millions to developing
countries. Friedman’s book The World is
Flat comes to mind.
